IN-PERSON VISITS: Information, schedule, rules, and forms

  • For all facilities, there is a limit of two adults and two children per visit. 
  • Rules Regarding Minors Visiting. Any minor (individual under the age of 18) must be accompanied by and remain under the constant supervision of their parent/Legal Guardian. Birth certificates shall be provided for each minor with both mother’s and father’s name on it.  A parent and/or Legal Guardian must accompany minors or children under the age of eighteen (18). Parents are required to provide a birth certificate with both parents' name and proper seal for each child. Legal Guardians shall provide court documents as proof of custody. Children/minors may only visit their father, brother, stepfather, grandfather or Legal Guardian. Direct relations may accompany minors with a signed and notarized letter from the parent or legal guardian.  All accompanying paperwork still needs to be provided.
  • The Essex County Sheriff's Department enforces a dress code for visitors. More details can be found by clicking here.
