STAR is a community-based program offering personalized support and services to help individuals successfully transition out of the criminal justice system.
The Essex County Sheriff’s Department’s MAT program provides life-saving, evidence-based treatment that helps individuals overcome opioid addiction and prepare for successful reentry
The Essex County Sheriff’s Department offers comprehensive educational and workforce training programs designed to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed and build productive, meaningful lives after incarceration.
Sheriff Kevin Coppinger’s Youth Leadership Academy offers a free, week-long summer experience that empowers at-risk youth ages 8–14 through team-building, leadership training, life skills, and community engagement to shape future leaders in Essex County.
The Essex County Sheriff’s Department’s Community Service Crew is a volunteer-driven team from the pre-release and reentry center that, under correctional staff supervision, delivers free painting, landscaping, trash removal, and other vital services to municipalities and nonprofits, reinforcing community bonds while preparing individuals for successful reintegration.
