Middleton, Massachusetts... On Nov. 15, Essex County Sheriff Kevin F. Coppinger collaborated with the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace and the Boston Children’s Hospital Bloodmobile to collect vital blood donations at a blood drive held at the Sheriff's Department Headquarters in Middleton.

“Our department employees really stepped up to give pints for half pints,” Sheriff Coppinger said.  “The blood drive donations go to help kids that need surgery, organ transplants, and cancer treatments or are involved in accidents. It feels good to be able to help them out. We were proud to do it.”

The need to replenish the hospital's blood supply is constant and critical.  The employees of the Sheriff’s Department volunteered to help fill this need.  The blood donated will supply Children's Hospital with approximately 190 units of blood for their pediatric patients.
