Step 1: Notice to Quit

• 14 Day Notice to Quit w/ Form to Accompany Residential Notice to Quit (link to form)
• 30 Day Notice to Quit (one full rent cycle) (link to form)

Step 2: Summary Process Summons and Complaint

• Obtained from the court after the Notice to Quit has expired

Step 3: Notice of Court Event

• Obtained from the court after the Summary Process is filed

Step 4: Execution for Possession

• Obtained from the court after the court hearing

Once the Execution for Possession is obtained, you can bring it to our office, in Salem or Lawrence, or you can mail it to our Salem office. If you are going to bring the paperwork into the office, there is a cover sheet here for you to fill out and, in addition to a check or money order, we accept Visa or Mastercard.

What is needed if you send it in:

1. Cover Letter or Eviction Request Form (Link to eviction request form)
   1. Please note your choice of movers (which need to be within 20 square miles of the property)
2. Original Execution for Possession with the court seal
3. A check or money order made payable to the Essex County Sheriff’s Department for $400.00
