Treatment and Recovery for Addiction in Corrections

The TRAC Program is a 4-6 month Therapeutic Community focused on understanding the disease of addiction and establishing a recovery based lifestyle. The primary goal is to assist participants with alcohol and drug problems through behavioral change. Clients, during their involvement and participation, will learn about the 12 steps of recovery, Alcoholics Anonymous/Narcotics Anonymous and personal accountability while engaged in cognitive behavioral therapy

Alternatives to Violence and Cognitive Behavioral Programming

The Alternatives to Violence Program is a 35-hour program designed to identify and confront negative behavior patterns, which stem from domestic violence, criminal thinking and substance abuse. Must complete 35 hours of group instruction in order to graduate.

Reentry Services and Medically Assisted Treatment

Assist in placement within residential Treatment and Sober Housing. Facilitation within out-patient treatment services may also be accessed within the reentry unit.

Essex County Sheriff’s Department offers our serviced population with a medically assisted treatment option in the form of vivitrol. Participant’s may access this option with consultation with assigned clinical staff.

Drug and Alcohol Groups

This program is designed for our inmate population who remain interested in maintaining a connection with recovery and treatment resources. During these programs periods, participants will engage in topics related to recovery, relapse prevention, aftercare and sponsorship. Groups are conducted in lower programs, inclusive of each unit.

HIV Education

HIV services provide educational services to our inmate population regarding prevention strategies as well as counseling and aftercare protocols for our identified HIV population. Those individuals who are HIV positive are given access to a variety of services for future care involving both medical and counseling upon release.

Life Skills

Self-reflection is the main focus in this class. Each student will develop a better understanding of their own values and behaviors. This class teaches ways to focus on positive behaviors to deal with the challenges faced in everyday life. Inner values, coping skills, problem solving and conflict resolution are some of the many topics discussed.

Veteran’s Services

Veteran’s Services is part of the Reentry Unit. Within this service, offenders with past military service will be afforded the opportunity to connect with Veteran’s Administration and other local agencies. Inmate population is screened at intake process and provided instructions with accessing services with reentry staff.

Straight Ahead Ministries

Straight Ahead Ministries works in conjunction with the Sheriff’s Department to offer re-entry services to inmates from Lynn who are between the ages of 18-24. They are a faith based organization that facilitates groups every Friday to deal with and discuss issues that arise because of the inmate’s incarceration.
