We’re proud to announce our partnership with former New England Patriot Devin McCourty, who is teaming up with the Essex County Sheriff’s Department to launch Stickball, a groundbreaking AI-driven reentry program designed to support justice-involved individuals as they transition back into the community.
McCourty is lending his voice and influence to this initiative, helping to amplify its impact and inspire participants. McCourty joined us virtually on May 19 to share insights on the program and its potential to transform reentry support with Sheriff Kevin F. Coppinger, STAR staff, Stickball founder Paul Buonopane and CEO Sahal Laher. McCourty will make an in-person visit to our STAR facilities to meet with participants and staff to see how the program is improving lives and our communities.
Stickball leverages advanced AI to simulate real-world scenarios, guiding users through job interviews, workplace communication, and relationship-building exercises. Accessible anytime via mobile devices, the platform empowers participants to practice essential life skills at their own pace.
Currently, 25 participants in our STAR Program in Lynn and Lawrence are actively using Stickball, providing valuable feedback to shape the program for future implementation.
“Stickball is more than a learning tool — it’s a platform for our participants to actively shape the program’s evolution,” said Sheriff Coppinger.
Assistant Superintendent Jessica Oljey added, “We’ve already witnessed remarkable growth among our STAR participants, and Devin McCourty’s commitment to the program is helping to build a stronger, more impactful Stickball for others.”
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to work with Devin McCourty and our partners to revolutionize reentry support in our community and beyond!
