MIDDLETON — The Essex County Sheriff’s Department promoted 19 supervisors and saw nine recruits graduate from its Basic Training Academy on Friday, May 24.

The Essex County Sheriff’s Department holds three academies each year to train and develop new correctional officers. The 12-week academy includes training in medical response, de-escalation skills, mental health, and more.

“At the Essex County Sheriff’s Department, we know that intensive training is critical to officer safety. Our training doesn’t stop at these academies. Our staff receives on-going and extensive training throughout their careers,” Sheriff Kevin F. Coppinger said. “These new correctional officers, along with the newly promoted officers, represent the best of the best, and we are proud to work alongside each and every one of them.”

The graduation and promotion ceremony was held at Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill.

Graduating from Basic Training Academy BTA 24-01 were:

  • Cormick Powers

 

Also recognized for their recent promotions were Captains William Chiccarelli, Benjamin Roberge, and Alex Wilson, Lieutenants John MacDonald, Jacob Menard, Travis Mustone, Louis Potvin, and Brendan K. Walsh, Security Investigators Stephen D’Apolito, Corey Dever, and Leonardo Jorge, and Arnaldo Mora was promoted to Director of Programs.
