Triad — Supporting and Empowering Seniors
Serving the seniors in Essex County, Triad is a collaboration of law enforcement, senior citizens, and Councils on Aging in each community. Sheriff Kevin Coppinger and District Attorney Paul Tucker support and empower the senior population.
With a focus on senior safety, we offer a number of programs including:
- File of Life. A magnetic folder containing a person's medical and medication information that sticks to your refrigerator. In the event of a medical emergency, first responders are trained to look for the File of Life and bring it to the hospital. To request a File of Life folder, please click here and include your contact information in the email.
- Yellow Dot. Much like the File of Life, this is a yellow dot that is affixed to the back window of a vehicle. It alerts first responders that a copy of the person's medical and medication information is contained in the glove box.
- CarFit. A certified CarFit Technician helps seniors adjust certain aspects of their vehicles so that they are more comfortable and safer drivers. The program’s slogan states the mission perfectly: “Helping Mature Drivers Find Their Perfect Fit.”
- Is Your Number Up? Reminds seniors of the importance of having their house numbers properly displayed. House numbers are vital so emergency responders can quickly locate your home.
- Grab & Go Bag. We provide a list of suggested items that one may need in case of emergency evacuation. Things such as spare eyeglasses, medication, snacks, or even pet supplies may make being away from home a bit easier.
TRIAD presentations include:
- Senior Bullying (for staff or seniors)
- Senior Scams
- Senior Safety
- Staying Positive in Your Senior Years
- Grab & Go Bags
- Overview of the Essex County Sheriff's Department
We welcome the opportunity to come and speak at local events, senior centers and councils on aging. To request a visit, click here and include your contact information in the email.
