The Essex County Sheriff's Department is warning residents about a current phone scam in which the caller pretends to be a Deputy of this Department, asking for money to settle court warrants. THIS IS A SCAM! HANG UP!

Our deputies don’t call people on the phone to settle warrants. We serve them in person.

We remind residents to NEVER share personal or financial information with strange callers. If you believe you are a victim of this scam, please report it immediately to your local police department.
