Bunny-chitta offers comfort at Women in Transition program

Bunny chitta

It looked a little more like Easter than Christmas at the Women in Transition Center in Salisbury this week with a visit from a pair of New Zealand Rabbits, better known as Mama Bear and Dorge Black. Bunny-chitta

The program called “Bunny-chitta Compassionate Care” and offered by Wendy Cook provides a creative way of learning how to interact with others in respectful and compassionate ways and how to extend to oneself that same sense of care. Cuddling, petting and holding the rabbits can alleviate stress, promote relaxation and empathy, provide a sense of calm and connection to the natural world, as well as many other comforting feelings.

Wendy rescued this pair of rabbits from a facility that was preparing the beautifully-bonded couple to be slaughtered for meat. This unique opportunity brought joy to the women who participated, as well as to Officer Briana Comeau is also a proud bunny momma.
